hi ladies and gentlemen, i've been reading your comments, i am not a jw, my daughter is dating a boy at school who is a jw and he always talks about not celebrating holidays, and what they believe and don't believe because of their jw faith.
i wanted to find a website that i could see (for myself) the jw beliefs, i thought is this for real?
my family enjoys celebrating valentines day, because it is a day we go out a buy the children a rose, and a big heart box of candy, i remember as a kid it was a special treat to get a big heart, then we would save the box for special mementos and notes.

There's one exception to the ban - the houses of parliament! apparently they have to pass a seperate law to ban smoking there

And drew sagan made a good point - in spite of the false prophecies, JW's do still get some Biblical teaching, which from your viewpoint should be better than none at all! Please if you can, name me one Christian denomination that has got it ALL right.

does the bible contain the whole religious truth or just a part of it that just happened to get recorded, and came to us?
i think only a small part of the truth is in the bible, eg jesus says to the apostles "i call you my friends because i revealed to you everything that i heard from my father" but i am sure he told them a lot more in those three years than what is in the gospels.
much of the truth that was said or written before or after john's revelation never came to us.

John also wrote in his gospel that Jesus 'did many other signs' (20:30; 21:25) so could we say maybe it's a question of whether there is sufficient truth rather than all the truth?
And again, if Jesus said 'I am the truth' - was that an absolute? If so, would this mean that all the truth is in the Bible even if only parts of Jesus' teaching is there?
i've had a mini saga regarding getting a new laptop but this evening while trying to set up a wireless network i have reached the point of screaming heebies.
i am about to indulge myself and hopefully no one is listening.
if i'd known the pain in the rear that setting up a simple two pc wireless network would be i'd have got a red hot poker and ritually disembowelled myself just to save time.

I like prairie dogs. I remember seeing them at Belfast zoo - most of them were living outside their enclosure. It seems that the builders had underestimated how deep the critters can burrow and didn't sink the enclosure wall low enough underground!
Of our native species, crows are quite funny in their behaviour, and hedgehogs ar sweet whenever they uncurl.
